Sometimes the weakness of social media is misused by some of the contemporary news media- it is scary, and may corrode the ‘strengths’ of a community to fight the real ‘struggle’ to ‘overcome’ the turmoil in most positive way.
Last week I observed a plethora of hotchpotch or ‘hodgepodge’ around the institution I spent long 16 years here and I cherished my life around this place. In an institution, people do not realise how many good things happen. No one barely notices those ‘creative’ work of people around it, But if there is a ‘ripple’ of instability, ‘ignorance’ sometimes tries to submerge the ‘beauty’ of a place.
I noticed the downside of ‘social media’ role in these circumstances. I saw how it lacks emotional connection and gives people a license to be hurtful. Since it decreases face-to-face communication skills, it is prone to convey inauthentic expression of feelings which can be harmful. It also diminishes understanding and thoughtfulness. Needless to say, occasionally, it facilitates laziness. It creates a skewed self-image, reduces family closeness and causes distractions.
But time is ever changing- ever moving. Time, majestically, masterfully denounces stagnation. Like an endless loop of moving stairways it is a perpetually changing aspect. So we have to accept the role of social media as a reality and use it responsibly.
Today, I am uploading our Weekly Sphero Club activities with a ‘bucket of water’ and scratch to hexagon coding as a reminder that RC is a good place to be there. There are ninety nine out of one hundred positive things to talk about and enjoy. Rest of the one percent, we will deal with it and overcome to attain the beauty of ‘Nirvana’.
