Third session of MindLab. For some reason, MindLab decided to change the venue. Classrooms are pretty much the same. Facilitator was Richard Riley. Rich worked in Rosehill College for a short period.
We learnt couple of things- or more than a couple. Tour Builder is a good application from Google which has good potential to be a resource in our classrooms. We also had good discussion on flipped classroom. We also joined in a debate regarding the differences and similarities between two words, 'creative' and 'innovative'.
We used SAMR structure to design a short activity with Tour Builder. Our objective was to reach up to the redefinition stage of SAMR.
Who could be better than Rich to talk about our 'mind's' transition from reality to augmented world which finally transcends into the virtual world. So we played with two applications on Augmented Reality. These are amusing applications. Now I have figured out how to make them useful in our classroom. One of the examples could be introducing platonic solids- really we can build an augmented environment where students will experience things like live volcano or a tetrahedron opening up into its net.
